Why have a birth day when you can have a birth month? Celebrate the entire week or the entire month of your child’s birthday with a birthday bucket list. In a gift punch, the person opening the gifts, “punches” the cup in to see what gift they are getting! This is a really fun option for someone who wants to make a birthday even more special. Using rubber bands will easily cover your openings. Cover the opening of your cups with tissue paper. Fill your plastic cups with small trinkets, candy, and/or toys. Glue plastic SOLO cups to a board – anywhere from 10 to 20 cups is the perfect amount. This idea is super fun and is a play on a punchout advent calendar (as seen in our Christmas Care Packages.) On the slips of paper, you can even use markers to write sweet birthday wishes or birthday tokens/coupons for future activities. This is a great visual for younger kids and they will love tearing apart the newest chain paper each morning when they wake up each day of their birthday week. Grab construction paper and cut strips of paper to make your own DIY Countdown Paper Chain. If you were a child of the 80s, you know paper chains. This can be done with a birthday countdown internet clock or you can get an interchangeable countdown clock timer that has a face you can change for all your important calendar dates including vacation, retirement, Christmas, and birthday! Fill small boxes or bags with a little gift like sweet treats and surprises in anticipation of the arrival of your child’s birthday. Turn this holiday-themed decor into a cute and creative birthday countdown calendar. Recycle your advent calendar from Christmas or make your own 12 days of birthday DIY Advent calendar. You can have duplicates to places like Amazon or Starbucks if you want the values to add up. So for a sweet 16 birthday, gift sixteen $16 gift cards. Or for younger kids, give them a gift card the value of their age. These gift cards can be small and large all the way from $5 to $20. Ten days before your child’s birthday, give them a new gift card each day. For example, for a ten-year-old birthday present idea, have ten gift cards. This is especially fun for a milestone birthday. Grab gift cards as a build-up to the special occasion. Instead of receiving all their birthday cards in one day, they receive them slowly allowing the recipient to savor each message. This can include coaches, teachers, friends, and family. Instead of you writing all a dozen messages, have special family members, aquantiences, and friends write messages too. The birthday girl or boy can open one birthday card each day until their birthday celebration. Number them in order and write a special message on each card.
